Where brands outbid each other for a piece of the internet.
Billion Dollar Homepage is a modern reboot of the original Million Dollar Homepage, rebuilt for today’s internet as a live bidding marketplace for digital attention.
The idea is simple. The homepage contains a 1,000 x 1,000 pixel canvas divided into 10 x 10 blocks. Brands, founders, creators and businesses can buy a piece of the homepage, upload an image, add a link and claim their place on the grid.
But there’s a twist.
Unlike the original Million Dollar Homepage, your space is not guaranteed forever. Anyone can outbid an existing placement by paying 5% more than its current value. If someone takes your position, you can bid again and win it back.
That turns a static pixel advertising page into a constantly changing marketplace where visibility, scarcity and competition all play a part.
Billion Dollar Homepage was inspired by one of the internet’s most memorable viral projects, but the goal was never to create a simple clone. The interesting part of the original idea was not really the pixels themselves. It was the underlying mechanics: limited digital real estate, curiosity, social proof, ownership and the desire to be seen.
BDH takes those mechanics and adds competitive bidding.
For advertisers, it offers a different way to buy online attention. Instead of paying for an impression that disappears almost instantly, you are buying a visible piece of internet real estate that remains on the homepage until someone values that position more highly.
For visitors, the page becomes part advertising platform, part marketplace and part internet experiment. Over time, the grid should tell its own story as brands arrive, positions change hands and certain areas of the homepage become more competitive than others.
The mechanics are intentionally simple:
Buy a minimum 10 x 10 pixel block.
Upload your creative and add your website URL.
Your placement goes live once payment is complete.
Your block remains yours until somebody outbids it.
To take an existing space, the next buyer must pay at least 5% more.
Every takeover changes the homepage.
Billion Dollar Homepage is also a solo-founder experiment.
I’m pushing 60 and have spent years building businesses online. What fascinates me today is how much one person can now create using modern development tools, AI and automation. Projects that would once have required a team can increasingly be researched, designed, built and launched by a single founder.
BDH is partly a test of that new reality.
Can an old internet idea be reimagined for 2026?
Can a simple mechanic create a genuine marketplace for attention?
Will businesses defend valuable positions?
Will competitors start bidding against one another?
Will early buyers end up owning unexpectedly valuable pieces of the grid?
I don’t know yet, and that is exactly why I wanted to build it.
Billion Dollar Homepage is advertising, competition, digital real estate and a little internet absurdity rolled into one public experiment.
Claim a piece of the homepage, promote your business, or simply watch the grid evolve.
