Clarity

Clarity is a French news service that reads the press from across the political spectrum and shows where coverage converges and where it diverges. Each day it ingests several thousand articles from 56 national and regional newsrooms, groups them into topics, and labels every story with the share of left, centre and right outlets that covered it. Instead of sending readers to a single editorial line, it puts the coverage side by side so the framing of an event becomes visible in one glance. The product is a Next.js web application with news content and images served from Supabase, and it publishes a public RSS feed alongside its daily topic index.

What Makes Clarity Stand Out

• Coverage breakdown per story: every article lists how many newsrooms covered the subject and splits them into left, centre and right percentages, with the count of outlets behind each share.
• Debate view: contested subjects are presented as two opposing readings of the same question, each attributed to the newsrooms that defend it, so the disagreement is readable without opening five editorials.
• Blind spot section: an "Angles morts" feed highlights subjects that only one side of the press is covering, something that is hard to notice when you read a single outlet.
• Baromètre 2027: a live dashboard for the French presidential race that combines voting intention polls from seven institutes with a weekly measure of which candidates occupy the media space.
• Daily volume counters: the header shows articles read, newspapers monitored and topics built within the last 24 hours, so the scope of the aggregation stays visible.

Who Should Use Clarity

• Journalists and editors who need to check how other newsrooms framed a story before writing a follow-up or an analysis.
• Teachers, students and media literacy programmes looking for concrete examples of how political leaning shapes word choice and story selection.
• Politically engaged readers who want to follow French and international news without staying inside one editorial bubble.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Clarity?

Clarity is a French-language news site that aggregates articles from dozens of newspapers, groups them by subject, and shows how outlets from the left, centre and right treat each one. It covers politics, international affairs, the economy, society, culture and tech.

How does Clarity decide which outlets are left, centre or right?

Each newsroom is assigned a political position, and that label drives the percentages shown on every story and on the media coverage chart. The classification is explained on the site's "Qui sommes-nous" page, which is worth reading before treating the breakdown as a precise measurement.

Is Clarity free to use?

The site is readable without an account and offers an RSS feed, so readers can follow topics in their own feed reader. No paid tier is advertised at the time of listing.
