WakeSharp is an alarm clock for heavy sleepers: silence it with math, photo, or walking missions, then score how sharp you woke up.
WakeSharp is an alarm clock app for heavy sleepers who sleep through, silence, or snooze ordinary alarms. Instead of trusting a swipe that a half-conscious person can perform, each alarm can require a short mission before the morning counts: quick arithmetic, a memory puzzle, a photo of a spot chosen the night before, an object scanned across the room, real steps counted by the phone, or an answer said out loud. Once you are up, the app scores how sharp you actually woke. It ships as two native builds rather than one cross-platform wrapper, SwiftUI on iOS 26 or later and Kotlin with Compose on Android 8.0 or later, with companion apps for watchOS and Wear OS.
Behaviour is platform-specific and depends on permission. On iPhone, WakeSharp uses Apple's AlarmKit, which rings through Silent mode and Focus once alarm access has been granted, and declining it means the app cannot schedule anything at all. On Android it plays on the dedicated alarm stream, which sounds through silent mode and through Do Not Disturb when alarms are allowed, with a full-screen alert over the lock screen. Total Silence mutes all sound, and no app can ring on a phone that is switched off or out of battery, so keep a second alarm for anything you cannot miss.
Only if you choose to. Missions cover several kinds: arithmetic and puzzles, a photo of a spot you selected the night before, scanning a real object across the room, walking steps or holding the phone in window light, typing a line with autocorrect off, or answering out loud. You can set more than one mission per alarm, and Surprise Me picks a different one each morning. Missions are configured the night before, so nothing is negotiated half asleep.
There is one subscription, WakeSharp Unlimited, which includes every wake-up mission, the warm-up games, smart calendar alarms, shift rotations, profiles, your full Sharpness history, and every scene and wallpaper. Eligible new subscribers get a 7-day free trial of the yearly plan, then $34.99 a year, or $4.99 a month with no trial. No WakeSharp account is required and everything works signed out. Optional Apple or Google sign-in exists only to back up alarms, settings, scores, and streaks to a new phone. Camera and calendar processing stay on the device, the app shows no ads, and it does not track your sleep.
